As the Minister of Environment and Energy said at the Athens Investment Forum 2024, the system will become more direct and will concern the citizen more
Changes to the reimbursement fees collected by consumers in the areas where Renewable Energy Sources units are installed were announced by the Minister of Environment and Energy, Thodoros Skylakakis, speaking today at the Athens Investment Forum 2024.
As he said, the system will become more direct and will concern the citizen more, while he added that the reimbursable fees are a tool to deal with the reactions in the areas where these units are installed.
Mr. Skylakakis emphasized that the revolution of renewable sources is not going to be reversed because it is now the most economical way to produce energy even if the costs of environmental disasters like the one that happened recently in Valencia are not taken into account.
He added that the continued development of renewables without corresponding domestic demand means we will continue to have excess energy, zero prices and cuts in the absorption of “green” energy. Finally, he underlined that these problems will be addressed by developing energy storage, strengthening interconnections and a better mix of RES that will include more wind turbines.
