The Minister of Development, Takis Theodorikakos, met today in Rome with his Italian counterpart, the Minister of Entrepreneurship Adolfo Urso

In particular, as stated in a corresponding press release, they had a very interesting discussion and exchanged views on a number of critical issues of common interest to the two countries.

Its subject was the strategic cooperation between Greece and Italy in the fields of industry, research, innovation, private investment and the joint action of the two countries in the European Union to implement the proposals of the Draghi report.

The Minister of Development, Takis Theodorikakos, stated after the meeting:

We had an extremely interesting and creative discussion with my Italian Minister counterpart, Mr. Urso. With the main objective of expanding the strategic cooperation between the two countries in the fields of industry, research and innovation and private investment.

With Italy, Greece has extremely important financial relationshipsI would say balanced, as far as imports and exports are concerned. But we also share common perceptions about the present and future of Europe, about the need for European autonomy and security. For the need to strengthen the competitiveness of European businesses and close strategic economic cooperation.

All – as basic ideas – are also described in the Draghi report, for which we agreed that the time has come for concrete practical initiatives to be taken in order to be specialized and fleshed out for the good and security of the EU itself.

I believe that the Prime Minister of Greece, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, and the Prime Minister of Italy, Giorgia Meloni, have a very crucial and essential role in today’s European Union. I believe that in view of the strategic cooperation council of the two countries on February 4 in Rome, we will jointly take a number of steps to promote and cooperate in all these areas.
