Piraeus created the program “Piraeus Startup Accelerator” which aims to support sustainable start-up entrepreneurship, with a special emphasis on young people, and on strengthening innovation in the modern competitive environment.

The program is specially designed to fill the funding gap that exists in the Greek market, offering new, innovative business groups the tools, know-how, networking and opportunities they need for their business development. With these tools they are given the opportunity to turn their ideas or technologies into original, sustainable and internationally competitive business initiatives, products and services (Minimum Viable Products – MVPs).

In addition, through the program, young entrepreneurs are given the opportunity to get in touch with specialized professionals, companies with know-how, potential partners and investors, university institutions and organizations to support them in their career path and the achievement of their goals.

The program is implemented in collaboration with entities that have high expertise in the design and implementation of innovation programs, so that they respond more effectively to the needs, opportunities and special characteristics of the local economies to which they are addressed.

Piraeus Startup Accelerator of Ioannina and Patras

The Piraeus Startup Accelerator of Ioannina and Patras was designed and implemented in collaboration with the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Hub “Point of Synergy” and aims to strengthen the development of innovation and business culture in the Greek region, giving development opportunities to new and existing startups, whose at least 50% of the partners/shareholders are young people aged 18-34.

Participants will receive:

  • specialized training for the development of a business idea in startups and the creation of MVPs (e.g. partner selection, product design, fundraising, legal and tax issues, basic marketing principles for startups, presentation of prototypes to investors – investors’ pitch),
  • strategic guidance from expert mentors in areas such as technology, marketing, business development and banking
  • networking opportunities with investors, organizations and other startups,
  • financial reward in the framework of the competition with a total value of €5,000 to the winning teams for the creation and testing of the MVP.
  • Upon completion of the program in Ioannina and Patras, the participating teams will present their business ideas at a special pitching event organized by Piraeus.
