Google announced today that the Debbie Weinstein takes over as President of Google for Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA).
As Google continues its remarkable achievements in Artificial Intelligence (AI), Debbie Weinstein will lead the company’s effort to ensure that every person in the EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa) region benefits from its innovative technology of Artificial Intelligence, it is stated in the relevant announcement.
According to Public First, Google’s products, platforms and tools contributed around €179 billion in economic activity in 2023 in the European Union alone, and enabled businesses to employ more than 3 million people.
Debbie Weinstein will focus on helping them usersthe businessesthem partners and them governments in all countries of the EMEA region to take advantage of the important, untapped – until now – development potential offered by Artificial Intelligence. A recent study conducted by Implement Consulting Group, on behalf of Google, estimates that generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) could add between 1.2 and 1.4 trillion euros to the European Union’s GDP, or as much as 8% over the next ten years.

Above 29,000 people work for Google in EMEA across 56 offices in 35 countries. There are Google teams across the region building products from Android, Chrome and Cloud to Search and YouTube, while also managing the company’s technology infrastructure. Also, the EMEA region is leading significant progress in Artificial Intelligence research. Google DeepMind, based in London, has made significant innovations such as the Nobel Prize-winning AlphaFold, which accelerates scientific research in many areas of science. In Kenya and Ghana, Google researchers are using AI to predict floods and enhance food security.
Who is Debbie Weinstein?
Debbie Weinstein joined Google in 2014 and has since held leadership roles at both regional and global levels. She was previously Google’s Vice President and General Manager for the UK and Ireland. Prior to that, as VP of Global Advertiser Solutions, he was instrumental in ensuring that businesses of all sizes around the world can grow through YouTube. Debbie joined Google as General Manager of the company’s sales, strategy and operations teams across the EMEA region.
Prior to joining Google, Debbie was Vice President of Global Media at Unilever, where she was responsible for global strategic communications planning, digital marketing development and leading the company’s global media partnerships. Her work at Unilever has been widely recognized, garnering numerous awards in her field, including dozens of Cannes Lions, as well as a Game Changer honor from Advertising Women of New York.
Earlier in her career, Debbie worked in sales, marketing, strategy and business development at media companies including Viacom, MTV Networks and Bolt.com. She founded a baby food company, Swingset Kitchens, and began her career as an M&A investment banker at Goldman, Sachs & Co. He has an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BA from Brown University.
