Panel SA: Men’s suit leaves UK inflation calculation after home office

by

The men’s suit left the list of goods and services that are part of the calculation of the inflation rate in the United Kingdom. The reason is the home office, which has reduced the use of clothing, according to the British Office for National Statistics (ONS).

The piece was replaced by jackets and blazers so that men’s formal and business clothes were still represented.

Individual donuts, traditionally consumed in face-to-face work, have also given way to candy in multiple packages.

The inflation basket has 700 goods and services that people in the UK usually spend their money on.

Among the items that became part of the list after the change in habits of the pandemic are women’s sportswear and collars for dogs and cats.

In cuisine, the rise of vegetarianism and veganism made canned beans, chickpeas and lentils being considered for the first time, according to the agency.
