With more than €8.5 million over 840 students have benefited in the 23 years of the Program’s “life”.
Faithful to its appointment with students for the 23rd year, COSMOTE, a member of the Telekom Group, offered 30 scholarships worth approximately €500,000 to first-year students of Greek universities. The COSMOTE Scholarship Program for the academic year 2024-2025 provides financial support for all years of study, with the aim of supporting students facing financial and social difficulties to realize their dream of higher education studies.
The institution of the COSMOTE scholarships is the company’s longest-running social contribution program and is part of the OTE Group’s strategy for Sustainable Development, which is fully aligned with that of the Telekom Group. In the 23 years of the Program’s “life”, more than 840 students from all over Greece have been given scholarships that exceed €8.5 million, promoting not only equal access to knowledge, but also the mitigation of social inequalities.
Ms. Depi Tzimea, Executive Director of Corporate Communication and Sustainable Development of OTE Group, said: “At COSMOTE, we believe that equal access to education is fundamental to creating a fairer and more sustainable society. We welcome our new members to the large COSMOTE scholarship family and are committed to continuing to invest in initiatives that give young people opportunities to make their dreams come true.”
The 30 COSMOTE scholarships consist of the “Zacharias Piperidis” honorary scholarship, with a total gross amount of €25,000, awarded to a student of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering in memory of the distinguished executive of the OTE Group, of 9 scholarships with a total gross amount of €18,750 each for five-year students, and of 20 scholarships of a total gross amount of €15,000 each for four-year students.
In addition to the financial scholarship, COSMOTE offers all selected scholars a laptop, a full package of fixed and mobile telecommunication services and Internet, as well as COSMOTE TV for 1 year for the duration of their studies.
At the same time, the new scholars will have the opportunity to strengthen their knowledge and skills both through unique technological experiences offered by the Telekom Group, and through internships in the modern working environment of the OTE Group.
Two days of unique experiences for COSMOTE’s young fellows
On the occasion of the awarding of this year’s Scholarships, the new members of the large COSMOTE scholarship family had the opportunity to live two days of unique experiences. Among other things, they were given a tour of the OTE Group Building, met the President and CEO of the Group, Mr. Kostas Nebi, while at the same time they participated in an experiential empowerment workshop and cooked for a good cause.
