Panel SA: Drivers pressure apps after Petrobras mega-increase

by

App drivers have increased pressure on Uber and 99 to ask for greater compensation for Petrobras’ mega-raise and for the category’s lag in pay in recent years.

Eduardo Lima de Souza, president of Amasp (Association of Application Drivers of São Paulo), says that he requested a meeting with the two giants of the sector to deal with the matter later this week.

“We made contacts with the companies. I requested a meeting to sit down to discuss this and leave there with a position. They did not refuse. They said they would see it one day. Uber said that probably this week. one day. On the other hand, they keep sending us these notes about this small increase. It doesn’t solve it”, says Souza.

After Petrobras announced a nearly 20% increase in gasoline last week, Uber announced a 6.5% increase in trips and pledged a BRL 100 million package to help boost earnings and reduce rider costs. drivers.

“We expect companies to take action and bring us a real readjustment. Not a 6.5% readjustment in the trip in the case of Uber and of 5% in the value of the kilometer traveled in the case of 99. And we don’t wants to work for incentives. Drivers get incentives today, but tomorrow they don’t. And the problem remains”, says Souza.

Sought by the SA Panel, 99 says that “it is attentive to the country’s situation and has invested efforts and resources to reduce the economic impact and the consequent fuel readjustments that affect partner drivers”. Uber has not commented.
