Check the INSS 13th payment calendar in 2022

by

The federal government decided to repeat what it did in 2020 and 2021 and will again bring forward the payment of the 13th of retirees, pensioners and other INSS (National Social Security Institute) beneficiaries. The measure should be part of the stimulus package to the economy that will be launched this Thursday (17).

The payment of the Christmas bonus is scheduled to be made in April and May, according to the monthly benefit calendar. The money always falls into the insured’s account in the month in which it is being paid. In April, the release starts on the 25th, according to the final number of the benefit, without the digit.

Beneficiaries with income above the floor receive from the first business day of the month following the month in which they are paid. The order in which the beneficiaries are distributed in the calendar is defined by the final benefit number, without considering the digit after the dash. In May, the second installment begins to be paid also on the 25th.

The first installment of the 13th is equivalent to exactly half of the monthly benefit amount for those insured who were already retired in January of this year. The second has Income Tax discounts, for those who are obliged to pay. Whoever starts to receive the benefit then earns the amounts proportionally.

The anticipation of the 13th of retirees and pensioners started to be made in the first semester, always by presidential decree. Before, the beneficiaries received the amounts in the final two months of the year, in October and November.

With the usual anticipation, the money was released in the first semester. However, the 2020 law regulating the pension reform ensures that the first installment is always paid in the first semester, within the competence of June.

In the years of the pandemic, however, the government anticipated the payment of amounts, as a way of stimulating the economy, which should happen again now in 2022.

Who is entitled to the 13th

By law, the 13th person is entitled to retirement, pension for death, sickness allowance, accident allowance or prison allowance from the INSS.

The bonus is not paid to those who earn assistance benefits such as the BPC/Loas (Benefit of Continued Provision of the Organic Law of Social Assistance) and Lifetime Monthly Income.

The forecast is to inject R$ 56 billion into the economy with the measure. Last year, the 13th was paid to 30.7 million beneficiaries, injecting R$ 23.7 billion into the economy in each payment batch.
