The nominal value of the red loans managed by the Claims Management Companies is approaching 80 billion euros.
According to the data of the Bank of Greece, an increase of 7.538 billion euros was presented in the fourth quarter of 2021 by the nominal value of domestic private sector loans, which are managed by domestic EDADP and have been transferred to specialized financial institutions abroad.
Thus, the total value of loans in this category amounted to 79.738 billion euros at the end of the fourth quarter of 2021, compared to 72.2200 billion euros in the previous quarter.
It is recalled that the Governor of the Bank of Greece, Giannis Stournaras, has drawn attention as these loans have not “gone out of the system” with the result that their management is a challenge for the economy.
From these loans, the BoG data show that the 32 billion euros relate to loans to companies from 29.114 billion euros at the end of the previous quarter.
More specifically, the nominal value of loans to non-financial corporations (FTAs) increased by 2.916 billion euros and amounted to 31.945 billion euros at the end of the fourth quarter of 2021. Of the managed loans to FTAs, amounted to 16.311 billion for loans to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
The nominal value of managed loans to other financial institutions decreased by € 5 million to € 80 million at the end of the fourth quarter of 2021.
Loans to freelancers, farmers and sole proprietors
The nominal value of managed loans to self-employed, farmers and sole proprietors increased by 1.171 billion euros compared to the previous quarter and amounted to 11.675 billion euros at the end of the fourth quarter of 2021.
Loans to individuals and private non-profit institutions
The nominal value of managed loans to individuals and private non-profit institutions increased by 3.454 billion euros compared to the previous quarter and amounted to 36.037 billion euros at the end of the fourth quarter of 2021. More specifically, managed consumer loans increased by 726 million euros and amounted to 16.070 billion euros. Managed mortgages increased by 2.729 billion euros and amounted to 19.776 billion euros.
