“Through this process, many public administration pathogens have appeared, such as significant delays in payments, which we apologize for.”
Data on Energy Upgrading Programs was presented at the event of the Association of Solar Energy Industries (EBC), the Deputy Minister of Energy and the Environment, Alexandra Sedoukou. In her address, she spoke of the motives given to the citizens, to participate in the programs, resulting in exceeding any expectations, as he said, applications for integration just in the 1st program. Characteristically, he said that 52m euros were given to 62,000 beneficiaries of the “I change water heater” program.
“Through this process, many public administration pathogens have appeared, such as significant delays in payments, for which we apologize and work to not be noted again“, Emphasized the Deputy Minister of Energy and the Environment and also referred to the strong interest of citizens in the programs, but also to the need for Greek productive units, to increase their production in order to respond to market interest.
Based on this increased interest, 2 new programs have been designed and “opened” since the beginning of the year: the new saving 2025, 424,000 000, with increased subsidy, up to 35,000euro for windows, insulation, cooling/heating systems and solar water heater , as well as the huge resonance program “I change water heater and a heating system” of 223,000,000.
“Through this second program, it is estimated that it will be allowed for 170,000 homes to subsidize 50-60%to install modern and economical heating systems (heat pumps) and hot water,” said the ministry spokesman, responsible for Program presentations, Zisis Ioannides.
Those approved will receive two checks / voucher, for the purchase of the material and the installation services, which can be redeemed by September 23.
The new program will not require the recycling of the old water heater and the subsidy will not exceed EUR 840 for vulnerable households and 600 euros for the general population, as well as EUR 180 and EUR 100, respectively for the cost of installation.
The program closes for citizens on 31/3/25, while the Deputy Minister urged the suppliers of Solar Energy Systems to register with the suppliers’ register from 3/3/25 to September 25th.
Finally, Mrs Sedoukou pledged that about 35,000 Voucher holders of the first program, who did not get redeeming them, would have priority as runners -up of the 1st round, if they apply to the second.
“In order to be able to catch the ambitious goals we have set as a country in the national plan for energy and climate, we aim to upgrade 68,000 homes annually, by 2030, and to this purpose we will use a tool that we have not touched until Now, the NSRF, as well as the new Modernization Fund and the Social Climate Fund, but they need more leverage than the private sector“, Concluded the Deputy Minister of Energy and the Environment.
