With “I’m Still Here” competing for the Oscar, Brazilians declared war on “Emília Pérez” and actress Karla Sofía Gáscon, one of the film’s protagonists. She competes with Fernanda Torres in the best performance category and the feature film competes in the best foreign film category.

With the euphoria on social media, Fernanda asked fans not to treat anyone badly and not to create a rivalry between one another. “I know that, sometimes, in our passion, we create something like ‘I’m going to win’. But the Oscar choices, all the actresses are special, each one in their own way, everyone deserves it.”

In the video, Eunice Paiva’s interpreter also recalled when Karla welcomed her to a party and introduced her to other actors.

“I’m there, half lost, half a fish out of water, when suddenly she takes me by the arm and introduces me to everyone. I couldn’t believe it, she was so affectionate with me, so supportive. She’s the first trans actress to be nominated for best actress at the Oscars.”

Fernanda also praised Demi Moore, from “The Substance”, Cynthia Erivo, from “Wicked” and Mikey Madison, from “Anora” and asked: “Let’s not feed hate.”

“Demi Moore sent me a personal message before the Golden Globes, a caring woman. Cynthia, that goddess. Mikey, that woman is incredible. Everyone there deserves our affection from us. Karla, I love you forever.”
