President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) again criticized Petrobras this Wednesday (16) and said that the state-owned company does not act the way he would like.
“I have my criticisms of Petrobras too. It’s not what I would like,” the president told supporters in front of the Palácio da Alvorada.
“Whatever I can do, I don’t command Petrobras, I have no interference over it, whatever we can do, we do,” he added. The statement was released by a Bolsonarista YouTube page.
Bolsonaro has reinforced criticism of the company since the announcement of the mega-increase in the prices of gasoline, diesel and cooking gas.
The statement to supporters was made after the president related the price of fuel to the work of PT administrations in the company. “Fuel is high all over the world. It could be a little cheaper here, but this energy bill is all over the world”, he said.
On Tuesday (15), the president said that “with all certainty” Petrobras will reduce these values, by charging the company an adjustment in the face of the drop in oil prices in global markets.
Like Bolsonaro, ministers from the political wing also believe that the company should review the readjustment, given the new oil scenario in the international market.
Military of the highest ranks came together to contain political articulations for the withdrawal of General Joaquim Silva e Luna from the presidency of Petrobras.
Since the weekend, the president has intensified his criticism of the state-owned company. He even said that she is not sensitive to the population, after announcing the mega-increase in fuel prices, due to the conflict in Europe.
Bolsonaro wanted the state-owned company to wait for the vote on the bill in Congress that would zero the federal tax on PIS/Cofins on diesel and cooking gas. The text was sanctioned on Friday night.
The pandemic and the war in Ukraine made the prices of a barrel of oil soar, reaching R$ 140 a barrel, pressuring Petrobras to make more readjustments – which had been insured.
Also on Thursday (15), the president told TV Ponta Negra, from Rio Grande do Norte, that Petrobras “does not collaborate with anything”.
“The price of fuel in Brazil is priceless and unfortunately Petrobras does not collaborate with anything,” Bolsonaro said.
