All of the proposals submitted and met the criteria for the “creation of a national network of trails and hiking trails” across the country is part of the recovery and resilience fund, By decision of the Minister of Environment and Energy, Theodoros Skylakakis and the Deputy Minister of National Economy and Finance, Nikos Papathanassis. These are 107 proposals, amounting to 41,224,054.39 euros, which were submitted by municipalities, regions and sacred monasteries.

It is noted that 64 proposals had been approved in the original ministerial decision (October 2024), while this new ministerial decision approves another 43, after the timely submission of the supporting documents, according to its approved report. Committee on Evaluation and the Committee of Appeals of the Ministry of Environment and Energy and the Organization of Natural Environment and Climate Change (OIPEKA).

The proposals include, inter alia, projects for the creation and / or the emergence of trails in Asterousia, Crete, Kalymnos, Folegandros, in municipalities of the Peloponnese Region, in Municipalities of the Epirus Region, as well as in island municipalities and affected areas of the region. .

The aim of the project is to create and highlight an extensive network of hiking trails, which extends across the country, contributing to the preservation and protection of rural, natural and cultural heritage.

The action has been integrated into National Plan of Recovery and Rules “Greece 2.0” and, in particular, on the axis 1.4 “Sustainable Use of Resources, Resistance to Climate Change and Maintenance of Biodiversity” of the Axis “Protection of Biodiversity as a driving force for sustainable development”, with an intermediate implementing body and funding.
