“The state is not allowed to become a protagonist in everyday madness stories! Whether this is due to laws or practices of public administration, “the Minister of National Economy and Finance, Kostis Hatzidakis, said in a post.

It is recalled that it is expected to be suspended for six months (until September 30, 2025), the publication by the State to claim private real estate and the progress of pipelines already filed and pending, according to an amendment to be tabled in Parliament, on the initiative of the Minister. National Economy and Economics Kostis Hatzidakis. This amendment, and in particular with the overall legislation to follow, addresses a major problem that arose for thousands of owners across the country, who were confronted with the ownership of their property.

As the minister reports on his post on Facebook, “it may sound completely absurd, but the public claims thousands of citizens and entire areas, with even documents … since the Turkish occupation! Until 2-3 years ago, he claimed the whole city of Saronida and until a few months ago the center of Karditsa! The owners are therefore called upon to suffer hassle and prove the obvious to courts: that is, their property is truly theirs. The indignation of the citizens is justified. And I am personally determined, along with the relevant ministers and especially the new and dynamic colleague, Konstantinos Kyranakis, who is responsible for the Land Registry, to promote all the necessary legislation in order to end various irrational stories. “

Mr. Hatzidakis adds how:

“All along my way I am always opposed to the narrowness and bureaucracy of the State. So we decided that we must give a solution: for 6 months, until September 30, 2025, no new lawsuits will be filed by the Ministry of Finance’s real estate services. And for lawsuits that have already been filed, the progress of the process will be temporarily terminated. It will be followed by a comprehensive legislation, according to the Supreme Court’s case law, so that it is clear in what cases the State can raise claims against citizens. The Supreme Court itself has also ruled that the Turkish occupation documents are not enough, and so many of them would be rejected. The problem has intensified in recent months, due to the imminent completion of the Land Registry, this very important tool, in which all properties are clearly imprinted. We are of course in collaboration with the Land Registry and the Deputy Minister.

The state must obviously work effectively. He cannot deal with cases that do not benefit the State, suffering from citizens. And at the same time create an additional burden for the courts. They all have to realize that we have an obligation to serve the citizens, not to torment them! “.
