In the process of submitting this year’s tax returns, already exceeding 1.1 million, Finance Minister Kyriakos Pierrakakis reported, following a presentation by AADE Governor George Pitsilis, in the presence of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Deputy Foreign Minister.

As Mr. Pierrakakis noted, this year’s record of filing reflects both the responsibility of the citizens and the reliability of the tax mechanism and digital infrastructure of the state.

“When the state is working properly, citizens respond consistently,” he said.

The measures that brought about

The Minister referred extensively to the interventions that contributed to the improvement of the process, such as:

  • the pre -filled statements,
  • the increased incentives for the lump sum payment of the tax,
  • The fast tax refunds for those who have credit returns,
  • But also the new, fixed timetable.

Revenue is increasing despite tax cuts

Particularly emphasized the fact that, despite the gradual reduction of tax rates, state revenue recorded a steady increase.

As he pointed out, this is due to:

  • In the development of the Greek economy,
  • in improving the economic climate,
  • In the fight against tax evasion,
  • and the effectiveness of AADE’s control mechanisms.
