The trial of META (of Mark Zakeberg’s online colossus, founder of Facebook), which is accused by the US Federal Committee (FTC) for monopoly practices, begins in Washington today in Washington (of the online giant of Mark Zakeberg, Facebook).

In essence, the US Competition and Consumer Monitoring Service claims that Meta, which already had Facebook, acquired Instagram in 2012 and Whatsapp in 2014 to eliminate competition.

The FTC examined and approved these acquisitions, but pledged to watch the results.

If the Federal Trade Committee (FTC) wins the case, it could force Zakeberg, sell both Instagram and WhatsApp.

The trial is the most serious antitrust challenge in Meta’s history and will also show the line followed by the new FTC president, Republican Andrew Ferguson, who accuses the major technology companies of “silencing” conservative voices.

Meta seems to be investigating the possibility of a compromise with the FTC before the trial begins while Zuckerberg often participates in meetings at the White House as part of an attempt to ensure President Trump’s favor.
