Panel SA: Anvisa bans sale of ointment for braids after reports of eye problems

by

Anvisa (National Health Surveillance Agency) banned this Wednesday (23) the manufacture and sale of omegafix braiding ointment.

The measure, which also determines the withdrawal of the product from the shelves, was taken after cases of people who had eye problems with the use of the product circulated on the internet. The regulatory agency says it has opened a dossier to investigate the allegations.

According to Anvisa, the ointment is not regulated as a cosmetic in the body and, therefore, it is not possible to guarantee the safety of use.

The product is manufactured by Cape Indústria de Cosméticos and is available for purchase on several marketplaces.
