Procon-SP notifies LinkedIn after exclusion of vacancy for blacks and indigenous people

by

Procon-SP announced this Wednesday (23) that it notified LinkedIn, a social network aimed at the job market, after the platform excluded a vacancy that gave priority to black and indigenous people in the selection.

The agency questions the social network about how vacancies are published on its platform, whether there are guiding policies for the process and how advertisers are informed about them.

LinkedIn must also explain whether there are criteria for approving jobs on the network and under what conditions the exclusion of already published ads can occur, as well as informing how these guidelines are passed on to advertisers.

Finally, Procon-SP asks if users receive any subsequent notice about the deletion of publications and if advertisers have support for creating posts on the network.

LinkedIn has until this Thursday (24) to respond to the agency’s questions.

The notification takes place after reporting by the sheet show that LinkedIn dropped a vacancy for administrative and financial coordination published by Laut (Centro de Análise da Liberdade e do Autoritarismo) that prioritized black and indigenous people in its selection process.

Days after it was published, the ad was taken off the air. The site’s support reported that this was because the post was deemed discriminatory. The social network employee did not detail what was considered discriminatory, but for Laut, there is no doubt that the target was the preference for black and indigenous people.

At the time, LinkedIn told the sheet that the publishing policies do not allow jobs that exclude or show a preference for professionals for any type of characteristics, be they age, gender, race, ethnicity, religion or sexual orientation.

In addition, he said that its policies are detailed, transparent and applied to all users of the platform around the world, and that it starts from the understanding that people with the same talents should have access to the same opportunities.
