In addition to the charges it has already received from Procon-SP and the MPF (Federal Public Ministry) for having excluded a job vacancy for black and indigenous professionals, LinkedIn is beginning to be questioned by large companies.
The Business Initiative for Racial Equality, a movement to overcome racism in the corporate environment that has brought together large companies from different sectors since 2015, sent a statement to LinkedIn asking for explanations about the case, according to Raphael Vicente, who heads the Initiative.
He claims that a similar document is also being forwarded to the social network’s headquarters in the United States.
“We will notify them about this and follow up with the responsible bodies to understand what happened. We also requested support from the Public Ministry of Labor, which is an essential actor in this”, says Vicente.
This Wednesday (23), Procon-SP announced that it notified LinkedIn asking for explanations on how the posting of vacancies is made, if there are policies guiding the process and how advertisers are informed about them. The Federal Public Ministry also sent a letter to the company.
The notifications were made after a report by the sheet show that LinkedIn dropped a vacancy for administrative and financial coordination published by Laut (Centro de Análise da Liberdade e do Autoritarismo), which prioritized black and indigenous people in its selection process.
“Given the proper proportions, this is similar to what happened at the time of the Magazine Luiza trainee [em 2020], with people questioning affirmative action. This discussion makes no sense. In Brazil, the legal position and the institutions are already established. Not only is it possible, but it is necessary to do this type of action”, says Vicente.
