Hotel prices were increased in April 2025 compared to the previous year, according to ITEP data (Institute of Tourism Research and Forecasts).

Specifically, the average price of a double room in April this year amounted to 109 euros from 97 in the same month last year.

In particular, the increase reaches 12.3% on an annual basis.

In contrast, the fullness of hotels in April 2025 was slightly reduced to 49% from 50% last year.

The role of short -term lease

An important role in the slight decrease in the fullness of hotels in April, compared to last year, has been increased by the increase in short -term leasing accommodation.

According to INSOUSE (Institute of the Hellenic Tourism Association), the evolution of the number of short -term leasing accommodation in the first quarter of 2025 shows a continuing increase compared to the corresponding period of 2024, maintaining the dynamics that began in 2023 and was reinforced by 2024.

In particular, in January, 213 thousand accommodation was recorded, increased by +23 mm compared to 190 thousand of January 2024.

In March, the number of accommodation amounted to 222 mm, increasing +18 mm compared to 204 mm, 2024.

The second quarter started with a rise, as 228 thousand accommodation was recorded in April, increased by +16 mm compared to April 2024 (212 mm). This increase further enhances the upward trajectory of the first trimester.

Increasing the number of foreign tourists

The structure of travelers in the short -term lease in the first quarter of 2025 highlights an enhanced presence of foreign visitors, following an upward trend month by month.

In January, foreign visitors made up 60% of the total, compared to 40% of nationals. In February, the percentage of foreigners increased to 64% while natives were reduced to 36%. In March, foreigners amounted to 69%, with the domestic percentage of 31%.

The start of the second quarter further reinforced aliens’ sovereignty, as they represented 86% of visitors in April, compared to just 14% of the nationals.
