Energy -saving investments in buildings and transfers funded by energy companies are more actively employed in order to achieve objectives saving energy and thus reduce the energy expenditure of households.
This is the so -called “Energy Efficiency Obligation Regime” that is already in force in our country, and includes measures that oblige energy businesses to implement Improvement actions of energy efficiency in houses, but also in transport.
Thus, suppliers and administrators of electricity and gas distribution networks as well as petroleum trading companies are called upon to implement measures energy -saving. These measures in the first phase included mainly information actions. But for the current period, by 2030, the Savings bar is rising taller and actions to be funded by companies include more tangible interventions such as Insulation, new heating / cooling systems, high energy efficiency frames etc.
The enforcement regime is included in the National Energy and Climate Plan (ESEC) as a key tool for achieving energy saving objectives.
According to the new one, revised ESECE, the Energy Efficiency Obligation Regimes will take 24% of the total cumulative target the period 2021-2030. That is, out of 11,251 thousand tonnes of equivalent oil (KTOE) which is the cumulative target, energy companies should cover 2,698 (compared to 20 % of the 7,299 ktoe which was the target according to the previous ESEC). In this context in the next period, the RIS will review the obligations set for each company in order to take into account the new higher ESEK target. It will also be reported whether the enforcement regime can be combined with the new policy announced by the government to restructure the “save” programs to reduce bureaucracy, accelerate investment and more actively involved in energy service providers (ENERGY SERVICES, ESCOS). That is, companies that undertake the implementation of energy -saving investment in homes and are compensated by receiving the benefit of the user of the property from reducing energy bills.
The CRIP (Renewable Energy Center) has been appointed administrator (Renewable Energy Center) which makes the report of actions implemented by the debtors (until now the liquidation has been completed for the period by 2023).
CRES has also issued a list with indicative measures Improving Energy Efficiency they are accepted under the enforcement regime which for the home sector include, inter alia:
- Insulation (building shell – masonry – loft / roof / floor)
- Windows/Glass High Energy Efficiency
- Insulation of heating system pipes
- Energy efficient heating systems
- Thermostats and controllers
- Heat pumps
- Energy efficient air conditioning systems
- Solar thermal collectors for hot water supply or to assist heating and cooling
- Energy Efficient Washing devices and other white devices
- Energy efficient lamps
- Smart lighting systems
