With significant losses, but well above their lows, stock prices closed today’s Stock Exchange session, with the market retreating below the “psychological barrier” of 2,000 points.

The domestic market was weighed down by the fall in European markets, as concerns about the health of US regional banks resurfaced, weighing on the broader financial industry. The attempt to recover Wall Street indices, at the opening of today’s session, significantly limited the initial losses, which exceeded 3.20%.

Banking shares were at the center of liquidations, while Coca Cola HBC provided significant support to the market.

The General Index closed in negative territory for the fifth consecutive session, at 1,987.52 points, recording losses of 1.30%.

Intra-sessionally it recorded a lower price at 1,948.59 units (-3.24%).

On a weekly basis, the main stock market index recorded losses of 5.81%, since the beginning of October it has fallen by 2.30%, while since the beginning of 2025 it has strengthened by 35.24%.

The total market capitalization fell by 1.236 billion euros.

The value of transactions fluctuated at high levels and amounted to 445.09 million euros, while 73,004,677 shares were traded.

The large-cap index fell 1.47%, while the mid-cap index fell 0.35%.

Of the large-cap stocks, the biggest rise was recorded by the shares of Coca Cola HBC (+3.09%), AIA (+1.97%), Elvalhalcor (+1.69%) and OPAP (+1.64%).

On the contrary, the biggest fall was recorded by the shares of Optima Bank (-4.86%), Piraeus (-3.55%), Alpha Bank (-3.33%), Eurobank (-2.83%), Ethniki (-2.56%) and Lamda Development (-2.44%).

The largest volume of transactions was presented by Alpha Bank and Eurobank, trading 15,719,637 and 14,049,370 shares, respectively.

The highest transaction value was recorded by Piraeus with 78.41 million euros and National with 70.23 million euros.

28 stocks moved up, 86 down and 13 remained stable.

The biggest increase was recorded by the shares: Ellaktor (+13.74%) and Progressive (+8.18%).

The largest decline was registered by the shares: Chaidemenos (-7.54%) and Pairis (-6.38%).
