A contract of € 8.4 million, now VAT, on the task of restoring the environment and fence, as well as the construction of climbing walls at the Athens Olympic Sports Center (OAKA) “Spyros Louis”, signed on Friday, July 18th, SA ».
The signature of the contract was attended by Deputy Minister of Sports, Yiannis Broutsis, Deputy Minister of National Economy and Finance, Nikos Papathanassis, Commander of the Special Coordination Service of the Recovery Fund, Orestis Kavalakis Chalioris.
The project concerns the following interventions:
- Completion of implementation studies and securing the required licensing.
- Performing targeted structural interventions in the surroundings of the OAKA, such as sealants and joint insulation, cracking and paving restoration, decorative mosaics of “Kalatrava” architectural elements, lighting cubes and liquid elements.
- Planting new trees, shrubs and lawn and the restoration, maintenance and extension of the irrigation network.
- Market regeneration with the addition of architectural elements (benches and olive trees) and lighting to emerge and become an attraction for walking and leisure.
- Construction of a new road to serve heavy vehicles to serve the operational needs of the sports complex.
- Restoration of pumping stations and electromechanical infrastructure of the fountains in order to make it functionally again.
- Placement of LED lighting network in the surrounding area.
- Completion and replacement of large sections of the fence of the complex, a large part of which have been dislocated, and the addition of prison for security personnel.
- Election of three walls of racing climbing, Lead Wall, Boulder Wall and Speed Wall with all accompanying infrastructure (houses, etc.) to serve athletes, as well as viewers infrastructure.
The Deputy Minister of Education, Religions and Sports, Yiannis Broutsis, said:

We are creating, in fact, yet another sports facility that did not exist in our country, the one for the Olympic Games in the climbing, as the prime minister had promised.

The signing of this Convention, concludes the auction of all projects of more than 130 million euros, which are part of the country’s most important Olympic sports infrastructure program and designed and implemented by PPF in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Education.

In 15 days the works on the shelters begin and we hope that in one year the image of the most important Olympic infrastructure will be significantly improved.
