Kyriakos Pierrakakis announced a set of measures to reduce bank charges, heralding the nihilization of all bank charges through the DIAS interbank system.

Speaking to the relevant House Committee, the Minister of National Economy and Finance, described the debt of recently sold by bank with a bank to a third provider, notifying that the government with an amendment filed directly, is proceeding with a legislative.

“What happened with sale of ATMs from a Greek bank, which was charged, is a situation unacceptable by both the prime minister and me. From the very first moment we have expressed our disagreement, but in the context of our government role disagreement means act, “Kyriakos Pierrakakis initially stressed.

He then stressed that the government is preparing the relevant legislative intervention, which in particular, he stressed, would provide:

– First, the institutional registration of zero charges that are already in force for banks.

– Secondly, the zeroing of the charges imposed by banks among the DIAS system, where they still charge 1.5 – 2 euros today.

– Third, there will be a national ceiling of 1.5 euros for any other charge, which will be the final amount (another charge is for example a third party charge or the Greek bank charge in a foreign bank)

– Fourth, any connection between a bank and a third provider, the third provider will treat the bank’s customers as if the bank itself is, that is, it will have zero charges. .

– Fifth, in the municipal communities up to an ATM, and this zero charge is already in place to third parties.

– Sixth, the removal of debt debt is instituted.

In terms of remittances, the € 0.5 charge applicable to banks will now apply to third parties.

In other words, on the basis of what Mr Pierrakakis has announced, the withdrawal and question charges on the ATMs are reset. For other transactions and ATM networks that belong to non -bank shareholders (such as Euronet), the charges ceiling is set at 1.5 euros per transaction.

Finally, for remittances, the amount of 0.50 euros set by former Minister of Finance Mr. Hatzidakis is maintained.
