by

Petrobras reported this Thursday (31) that the TJ-RJ (Court of Justice of Rio de Janeiro) decided, by majority vote, to uphold the appeal made by the company Paragon Offshore Nederland BV, a former supplier of oil prospecting rigs. Oil and Gas.

The estimated value of the action is R$1.9 billion, of which R$59 million is provisioned. The company also said that the remaining amount is classified as possible loss.

“Petrobras will present the appropriate appeals against the aforementioned decision and informs that there has been no change in the expectation of loss,” it said in a statement.

State-owned company approves agreement to end disputes with Novonor

Petrobras also announced that its board of directors has approved the signing of a pending settlement agreement (TEP) with Novonor (formerly Odebrecht) and some of its affiliates.

According to a statement from the state-owned company, the document provides for the definitive termination of four contractual disputes between the companies, upon payment from Novonor to Petrobras. Three of these disputes were under discussion in arbitration proceedings.

Petrobras also said that it will proceed with actions of administrative improbity against companies of the Novonor group for losses identified in the scope of the Lava Jato operation. However, it will not seek sanctioning or precautionary measures against these companies.

“The TEP also aims to regulate the effects for Petrobras and Novonor/Odebrecht arising from the Leniency Agreement signed, in 2018, by companies of the Novonor/Odebrecht Group with the Office of the Comptroller General and the Attorney General’s Office.”

The signed term does not exempt Novonor companies from undergoing an evaluation process in order to be included in the supplier register, or to participate in Petrobras’ competitive contracting procedures.

international oil production

OPEC+ countries announced on Thursday (31), as expected, a slight increase in oil production, ignoring calls to relieve pressure on prices caused by the war in Ukraine.

Representatives of the 13 member countries of OPEC (Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries) and their ten allies agreed to “adjust the increase in total monthly production by 432,000 barrels a day for the month of May”, the alliance announced at the end of a meeting.
