Panel SA: Enthusiastic third-way entrepreneurs see favorable wind in Doria e Moro turnaround

by

The turnaround in the candidatures of João Doria and Sergio Moro this Thursday (31) confused even the most experienced businessmen in political analysis. There is no consensus on what the day’s balance was or forecasts for the coming months, but third way enthusiasts tend to think the wind is favourable.

For Laercio Cosentino, chairman of the board of Totvs, the most important fact was the decrease in the number of pre-candidates in the field of the third way.

Consentino calls the third way “first way”, an expression that has been used by businessmen who are most rooting for an arrangement outside the polarization between Lula and Bolsonaro.

“Uncongesting this path will strengthen it, however, success will come through the unification of forces and a country plan that promotes growth, social inclusion, education, health, respect for resources and global relationships. A dream? No, it depends on a candidate that is committed to this and that knows how to communicate and convert this asset into a vote”, says Cosentino.

The balance of this adventure, in the words of Horácio Lafer Piva, should become clearer in the coming days. “I have no doubt that there are injuries, but still to be counted. Some movements and many feelings will say, but the event will not have as much effect on the option for the democratic center because little has changed. Doria remains a candidate, and Moro’s votes would not go to Lula or Bolsonaro”, calculates the businessman.

In the morning, a heavyweight from the business community closest to Doria still said he believed that the toucan would do well to give up the campaign and stay at Palácio dos Bandeirantes until the end of his term to show his achievements without being attacked by the Bolsonarista competition, which it could even reduce the toucan’s rejection to, who knows, in the future, restart its trajectory in politics.

This closest friend of Doria’s already envisioned alternatives for the career of the governor of São Paulo outside Lide, where his son, João Doria Neto has established himself in recent years.

In Moro’s camp, who left Podemos for União Brasil, representatives of Paraná’s business community resist the idea of seeing the former judge as a candidate for any position other than the Presidency.

One of the biggest supporters of Moro’s candidacy, Fabio Aguayo, from CNTur, says that the change of party aims to improve the position in the race.
