“We have chosen something that has an immediate impact on the Danes, who can immediately feel that they will have more money available,” Danish Vice President Trolls Lund Poulsen, who is also a Minister of Defense, explained to TV2.
In accordance with Ministry of Taxationthe coffee package in Denmark will cost five crowns less (66 minutes of the euro).
It is considered the oldest in Denmark, the special tax on chocolate is applied to all cocoa -containing products, sweets, candied fruits and chewing gum. It is between 3 and 3.5 euros, depending on the sugar content of the food.
According to the country’s statistics in July, the price of chocolate increased more than 25.3% over a year. Coffee became 35.5% more expensive.
Overall, food prices rose by 6.5% on an annual scale.
By abolishing these taxes, losses for Denmark’s public finances are expected to reach 2.4 billion crowns (321 million euros).
