An increase of 444m euros was increased by the total value of insurance business assets in the second quarter of the year compared to the previous quarter, stood at € 21,503 million, as evidenced by the data released by the Bank of Greece.
More specifically, total insurance deposits increased by EUR 24 million to EUR 553 million at the end of the second quarter of 2025.
Deposits to the Credit Institutions of the domestic decreased by EUR 49 million and stood at EUR 341 million, while deposits with foreign credit institutions increased by EUR 73 million and stood at € 212 million. The percentage of deposits on the total assets stood at 2.6% in the second quarter of 2025.
The value of the total placements of insurance companies in debit securities increased to EUR 10,621 million at the end of the second quarter of 2025, compared to EUR 10,523 million in the previous quarter, a development mainly due to the rise in the valuations of both domestic and foreign bonds. The percentage of debt securities in total assets decreased to 49.4% in the second quarter of 2025, compared to 50.0% in the previous quarter.
The value of total post -equity shares increased to EUR 6,808 million, compared to EUR 6,438 million in the previous quarter, and their percentage of total assets increased to 31.7% in the second quarter of 2025, compared to 30.6% in the previous quarter. The increase in the value of the placements is mainly due to the rise in the values of the interior shares, as well as the other countries in the euro area, as well as to net markets.
The value of total shares and other ownerships increased to EUR 1,057 million, compared to EUR 1,016 million in the previous quarter, a development due to the rise of domestic shares. The percentage of total shares in all assets stood at 4.9% in the second quarter of 2025.
On the passive side, the equity increased to EUR 3,800 million at the end of the second quarter of 2025, compared to EUR 3,566 million in the previous quarter. Insurance technical forecasts increased by € 177 million to EUR 15,732 million.
More specifically, insurance technical forecasts increased by € 179 million to € 12,129 million, while the technical provisions of losses stood at EUR 3,603 million from EUR 3,605 million in the previous quarter. Of all the technical forecasts, 77.1% corresponds to life forecasts.
