Bayer Leverkusen marks an incredible achievement regarding its away matches Bundesliga.
The German champion in the 2023-24 seasonis going through a difficult season this year, as it has to manage the departure of its stars, as well as its coach Xabi Alonso. Despite the poor results so far, the “aspirins” still maintain an incredible record that holds from the 2022-2023 season.
In particular, Bayer Leverkusen remains unbeaten in Bundesliga away matches since May 27 and the 3-0 loss to Bochum. It’s been counting ever since 37 away games in the German league without being defeated.
So far, Xabi Alonso’s championship season has passed, with great performances leading the team from Leverkusen to the trophy. That year, they had 17 away matches with a record 14 wins and just three draws, dethroning the Bayern Munich.
The following season the “aspirins”, despite losing some players, managed to have a good season, extending their away unbeaten record to 34 games, this time recording nine wins and eight draws.
And we come to today to see one Bayer Leverkusen which seems to be the weakest of recent years without the architect of the building Alonso and with many new players. In the first seven games in the league, there are four wins, two draws and one loss, which of course would be at home, since Bayer has lost away from home for two and a half years.
Things in the German team’s camp are not rosy as it has been barely 24 hours since the heavy home defeat by Paris Saint Germain (7-2).
Kasper Hulmant’s team is facing the biggest challenge of the season, as after the home match against Freiburg (26/10/2025), travels to Munich to face Bayern with the Bavarians looking to end this improbable run.
