Rodolfo Landim gives up the presidency of Petrobras’ board

by

The president of Flamengo, Rodolfo Landim, announced that he will give up the nomination for the presidency of the Petrobras board in an official note published this Sunday (3) on the website of the Rio club.

“Despite the size and importance of Petrobras for our country, and the enormous honor for me to hold this position, I would like to inform you that I decided to give up this nomination”, wrote the president.

In the note, Landim states that he has already forwarded his position to the Minister of Mines and Energy, Bento Albuquerque, and is grateful for the invitation. According to him, the reasons that made him give up the nomination would be the difficulty of performing both functions “with the excellence I wanted and at the height that Petrobras and Flamengo deserve.”

He also adds that “in relation to Flamengo, recent events have shown me the need for all of us to commit to an even greater degree of dedication and focus to the Club.”

Landim’s name had been appointed by the government to preside over Petrobras’ board of directors in early March. The nomination would be evaluated by shareholders at a general meeting on April 13.

Rodolfo Landim worked at Petrobras for 26 years, working in exploration and production and natural gas areas. When he left the company in 2006, he presided over BR Distribuidora, then a wholly owned subsidiary of the state-owned company.

If approved, he would replace Admiral Eduardo Bacellar Leal Ferreira, who left office for personal reasons.
