The Minister of National Economy and Finance, Kyriakos Pierrakakis, will chair the debate on his European bonds on innovation and digitization tomorrow, Saturday, in the context of informal meetings of the Eurogroup and Ecofin councils.

“We meet here today, in the beautiful city of Copenhagen, for the informal Ecofin and Eurogroup sessions, to discuss a full range of issues, from the introduction of digital euro to the economic impact of geopolitical developments.

We also meet a year after the publication of the Draghi report. And if there is one lesson we need to get from it, it is that we need to increase the level of our ambition. To try to achieve more than simply eliminate the obstacles that exist between the Member States of the European Union, between our economies.

We must also try to join forces in strategic areas, digital infrastructure such as telecommunications, but also to simplify and modernize public conventions in areas such as artificial intelligence, cyber security and green transition.

We should not just try to have an economy that manages the dangers. We must seek an economy that encourages innovation and promotes growth in the 21st century. And this is absolutely feasible. Thank you”.
