Elon Musk has become one of Twitter’s biggest shareholders, according to a document revealing that the tech entrepreneur has acquired a 9.2% stake in the social media company.
The filing on Monday by the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) revealed the surprise move by the chief executive of Tesla, the electric car maker.
The SEC file was signed by Musk and dated Monday (4).
Musk made no immediate statement about his motives for buying the shares.
The businessman’s use of Twitter has often proved controversial in the past, when he used it to make statements about Tesla’s financial health.
