Tsavousoglou: “Cooperation” for energy resources in the East. Mediterranean – Turkey’s blockade plans doomed

by

In the Eastern Mediterranean and in the development of its energy resources mentioned in an interview with Kriter magazine Mevlüt Tsavousogluas broadcast by SKAI’s correspondent in Istanbul, Manolis Kostidis.

The Turkish Foreign Minister called for co-operation in the region, stressing that any efforts not involving Turkey and Turkish Cypriots are doomed to failure.

“As far as the Eastern Mediterranean is concerned, there should be comprehensive co-operation in the region on potential energy resources.

Of course, I’m not talking about the so-called malicious co-operation efforts that exclude Turkey and the ‘TRNC’. Such efforts are doomed to failure, as evidenced by the East-Med pipeline project.

The unilateral actions taken so far have escalated tensions. We will continue to resolutely protect the rights and interests of our country and the ‘TRNC’.

As the country with the largest coastline in the Eastern Mediterranean, we have a key role to play in the region. “Our priority, as always, is diplomacy, cooperation and coordination,” said Mr. Tsavousoglou.

Of course, his interview did not lack the reference to Greece with the head of Turkish diplomacy underlining the open channels of communication after the recent meeting between Mitsotakis and Erdogan.

“We can say that the channels of dialogue with Greece are more open today than before. President Recep Tayyip Erdogan received the Prime Minister of Greece Kyriakos Mitsotakis. “We are in favor of an honest and constructive dialogue with Greece to resolve our problems,” he noted.
