Costs (67%) and food safety (61%) are the main factors that affect the consumer food market in Greece, while in Europe, costs (60%) and taste (51%) play a leading role. These findings come from the special Eurobarometer of 2025 for food safety in the EU, released by EFET.
Based on interviews, conducted by 26,370 people throughout the EU, between March 26 to April 22, 2025, research presents a picture of how Europeans choose food, their degree of awareness and interest in food safety, their food safety, their sources of food.
The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) is conducting research every 3 years and the results relate to the average between the 27 EU Member States. In many of these issues, there are significant differences between countries and between socio-journal (eg age groups, level of education, household income).
According to findings, the percentage of European citizens who say they are aware of the operation of the EU Food System has increased by 6 percentage residences from 2022. – Nearly 9 out of 10 respondents trust doctors (89%) and academics or scientists of public bodies (87%) for information on food risks.
