His respect for parents who have lost their children in Tempe expressed the Minister of National Economy and Finance Kyriakos Pierrakakis. “They have experienced the ultimate pain and must find vindication“, as he said. “At the same time, the role of the State is to preserve all those points of national interest. Especially in the Unknown Soldier we honor our dead, those who fell in the line of national duty. We can compare both, this is what every favored state must do.”

At the same time, the minister attacked the Opposition, speaking of “jokes” and “exaggerations” when terms like “Junta” are used in public discourse. “The country is our common home and the monuments of national interest are our common home. They belong to everyone, in the history of every family. I myself have spoken of a state that lends a hand instead of pointing a finger. We have seen state analgesia in Greece: the story with Mandra and Mati, where the State took people to the courts with appeals.

“We all know what the state of the country is: we have a democracy and indeed a mature democracy”, he added.

Asked whether the amendment for the Unknown Soldier is also coming for internal party reasons, Mr. Pierrakakis commented:

Because as finance minister I am at the center of decision-making, I can assure you that these things have nothing to do with reality, neither with the vocabulary nor with the way decisions are made. These things are self-evident in a democracy, the institutions of the state must be written and reflect what each citizen feels, having as much empathy as possible.”

“There is a very specific process that comes with this amendment. The way we honor our dead is specific: we have monuments and places of historical interest, and the Unknown Soldier is one such place. I don’t think any of us are so cynical that we don’t get moved when we go there or remember stories from our personal family. We have to honor all of these and I tell you that we can honor them at the same time.”

“In the next 8 months, citizens will be given €2.5 billion.”

Regarding her economic course of the country and to what extent it is reflected in the citizen’s pocket, the minister noted that the world will soon see tangible results. “In Greece we had the Harry Potter of politics, but it turned out that they were not wizards“, he characteristically commented.

“We start the increases for the crew from October, we will even give them retroactively, while on November 30th the return of a rent to 80% of the tenants begins. In total, over the next 8 months, 2.5 billion will be given to the world, hot money. We have 250 euros for 1.4 million pensioners. These are pre-TIF, but they haven’t happened yet – now they will.”

And he went on to say:

“From January 1, we have the tax breaks that public and private sector employees will see in the form of increases every day on their bill. Freelancers will inevitably see them in 2027, because this is how tax returns and income taxation work in Greece. These increases will be significant to give the beleaguered household a breather – I will never use the word “adequate”. The goal is always to improve our condition, for development to reach every household. We have made the biggest tax exemption in the Post-colonial period with what we announced at the TIF”.

At the same time, Mr. Pierrakakis announced the retirement new public property management code, while for the overdue debts of the State said that “we have set up a technical staff and we are collecting the data on the organization-to-organization invoices and in the coming months they will be made public explaining any delays».
