The size of the total building activity (Private – Public), during the month of July 2025, throughout the country based on the issued building permits, amounted to 3,134 building permits, which correspond to 733,875 m2 of surface area and 3,550,562 m3 of volume, that is, it presented an increase of 12.2% in the number of building permits, an increase of 12.5% in surface area and a 21.7% increase in volume, compared to the corresponding month of 2024, according to ELSTAT.

The issued permits for private building activity, throughout the country, during the month of July 2025 amounted to 3,118 building permits, corresponding to 724,248 m2 of surface and 3,501,263 m3 of volume, showing a 13.0% increase in the number of building permits, a 12.5% increase in surface area and a 21.6% increase in volume, in relation with him corresponding month of 2024.

The issued permits for public building activity during the month of July 2025, throughout the country, amounted to 16 building permits, corresponding to 9,627 m2 of surface area and 49,299 m3 of volume. The percentage of participation of the Public Construction Activity in the total building volume, for the month of July 2025, is 1.4%.

During the period of the last twelve months, i.e. from August 2024 to July 2025, the size of the total building activity (Private-Public) based on the issued building permits, throughout the country, amounted to 29,132 building permits, corresponding to 6,517,656 m2
surface area and 29,855,381 m3 volume.

In relation to the corresponding period August 2023 – July 2024, a decrease of 3.3% was observed in the number of building permits, a decrease of 6.3% in surface area and a decrease of 4.2% in volume.

During the same time period, August 2024 – July 2025, the private construction activity, in the whole country, shows a decrease of 3.5% in the number of issued building permits, a decrease of 6.9% in the area and a decrease of 4.6% in the volume, compared to the corresponding period of August 2023 – July 2024.

The participation percentage of the public building activity in the total building volume, for the above period, is 3.0%.

In the seven months of January – July 2025, the total construction activity shows, in the whole country, a decrease of 9.9% in the number of building permits, a decrease of 18.2% in the area and a decrease of 11.8% in the volume, compared to the corresponding seven months of the year 2024.

During the same period of January – July 2025, the private construction activity, throughout the country, shows a 10.0% decrease in the number of building permits, an 18.4% decrease in surface area and an 11.3% decrease in volume, compared to the period January – July 2024.
