Panel SA: Mega-increase in fuel boosts bus trips at Easter

by

The mega-increase in fuel prices seems to have spurred people to leave their car in the garage to travel by bus at Easter. According to ClickBus, a marketplace for selling road tickets, demand is already 190% higher than that recorded in 2021.

The survey considers shipments scheduled for the 14th and 15th of April.

ClickBus CEO Phillip Klien attributes the movement to pent-up demand for family celebrations, in addition to rising fuel and airfare prices, which increased demand for buses.

The capitals Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, which should also receive tourists for the samba school parades later this month, are the most sought after destinations. Curitiba (PR), Florianópolis (SC) and Salvador (BA) also appear in the popular list.
