New week, old topic. The movements about the command of Petrobras continued to focus the attention of the national market in recent days.
But other topics also marked the local and international news. Take the quiz to see if you’re on top of what happened this week:
‘Musk era’ unknowns on Twitter
The purchase of 9.2% of shares in Twitter by Elon Musk, which made him the company’s largest shareholder, and the invitation to join the company’s board of directors continue to have repercussions inside and outside the company.
Inside Twittersome employees are concerned that Musk could influence the platform’s decisions on content moderation, according to Reuters.
- The most emblematic case is that of former US President Donald Trump, who had his account banned from the network after the invasion of the US Congress last year. With the purchase of Musk, Republican politicians took to the network to ask for Trump’s return.
- Employees say they are concerned even after Twitter has reinforced that its board of directors does not make policy decisions. A senior official interviewed by Reuters said there were no plans to reinstate Trump’s account.
In the marketthere’s the idea that the Musk way of doing business can accelerate the solution to some of Twitter’s biggest problems, such as new feature releases and reaching a wider audience.
- This was the main reason given by analysts for the network’s shares to have soared. 21% on the day of the disclosure of the business.
- On Tuesday, the platform announced that it will begin testing an “edit” button for tweets. The company said it had been developing the feature for some time, but Musk himself had defended the novelty in some publications.

Petrobras takes stock market out of red
In a sign that the nomination of José Mauro Coelho for the presidency of Petrobras was well received by investors, the state company’s shares jumped 5.19% this Thursday (7th).
They ended up pushing the Ibovespa up on a day that started out sour outside.
In numbers: the Ibovespa closed at a high of 0.54%to 118,862 points, and the dollar advanced 0.55%, to BRL 4.74.
What explains: the appreciation of the American currency is still an aftermath of investors’ reaction to the minutes of the last Fed meeting, released on Wednesday (6).
- The document showed that members of the US central bank are open to a 0.5 percentage point increase in one or more meetings this year.
- The market saw a more aggressive tone in the minutes than was being discussed in the Fed’s fight against inflation.
At Petrobras: Analysts believe in the continuity of the strategy and policy that sets fuel prices. Coelho is considered someone with technical knowledge of the sector, but with little experience in corporate management.
- The homemade solution, surrounded by secrecy, was defined at the last minute and without leaving room for further questions, according to reports collected by the sheet.
- The choice of the new president of Petrobras does not put an end to the crisis between Planalto and the oil company, says Julio Wiziack, a special reporter for sheet in Brasilia.
- The price of gasoline in Brazilian refineries is now higher than international quotations, but the market does not expect the state-owned company to make cuts at this time.
More about Bags:
HP stocks soared 14.75% and reached an all-time high on Thursday (7) after the disclosure that Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway increased its stake in the company to 11.4%.
take a break
- To watch: “Back to Space”, on Netflix.
He was once again in the spotlight this week. Elon Musk has become the biggest shareholder in Twitter, a platform on which he often criticizes executioners, boosts cryptocurrencies and questions the network itself.
This week, the documentary “Back to Space” entered the Netflix catalog, which explores another obsession of Musk: the conquest of what exists beyond Earth.
- From the same directors of the 2019 Oscar-winning documentary “Free Solo”, the work focuses on the work of SpaceX engineers to keep pace with the mind of founder Elon Musk.
- In the background, the mission to take two veteran NASA astronauts back to the International Space Station.
