The Brazilian Portobello wants to have half of its operations abroad in three years, according to Cesar Gomes Junior, chairman of the board of directors of Portobello Grupo.
The ceramics and coatings company, which in recent years has invested in the international market, sees the macroeconomic scenario as an opportunity to move forward.
“There is a commercial and geopolitical war. Our competitors are suffering more from freight than we are, they have a worse energy problem than ours. It opens up space for the national industry. The scenario is favorable for international growth”, says Gomes Junior.
The initial target of this movement is the US market, which already imports Portobello products and will house the company’s first factory outside Brazil. Construction began on the new headquarters at the end of last year and is expected to employ more than 200 employees, according to the company.
“We know that we live in a difficult political context, which generates a series of uncertainties. In our view, it is important to grow in internationalization. It is our priority. Internationalization is not only extremely profitable but also creates our stability in the foreign market” , says Gomes.
Currently, the company exports to more than 60 countries, especially to Latin America.
