Panel SA: Return of the Christmas basket for employees in companies boosts turkey sales

by

The return of Christmas celebrations in the family should boost the sale of traditional meats of the date, according to the expectations of the large slaughterhouses this year.

Another growth front should be the return of Christmas kits that companies usually distribute to employees, but were suspended last year because of the home office.

According to Sidney Manzaro, vice president at BRF, owner of the Sadia and Perdigão brands, the delivery of kits fell by about 15% at Christmas 2020, but should recover this year.

In addition to the gift baskets, the company, which plans to hire 200 temporary employees, also expects a 3% growth in the sale of year-end products in general compared to the previous date.

The releases of BRF for 2021 follow the trend of consumers, who have switched from red meat to chicken and pork to try to avoid inflation.

Seara, a brand owned by JBS, says it has noticed an increase in demand for fish and is going to put on the market a new cod product, as well as poultry and quick preparation items.

Despite the crisis, the company assesses that there is a repressed demand this year, and Brazilians should increase their consumption of products at the time not only on December 24th and 25th, but throughout the month.
