Gas: Thriller with Germany – In 3 days he will have to pay Gazprom who demands rubles

by

Germany is turning its attention to the Europe-Russia energy war, as it has to pay a gas contract to Gazprom in twenty-four hours. The official German position so far is that the contract will be paid in euros or dollars, and not in rubles as Moscow claims, because this would be a violation of the terms of the contracts signed by both parties. However, there is a “window” for the debtor to pay Gazprom’s bank in euros and then the bank, which has been exempted from sanctions, to convert the euros into rubles. However, the official position of Berlin remains clear.

At the same time, according to Deutsche Welle correspondent Giannis Papadimitriou, the Minister of Economy Robert Hubeck was forced to revise its forecasts for the German economy in 2022. The growth rate is set at 2.2%, but expressed concern that in the event of an energy embargo, the German economy could be found with a decline of -6% ““This is manageable,” the German minister assured.

It is noted that Berlin is leading the way in an energy embargo against Russia, as Germany has managed to reduce its energy dependence on Russian energy sources from 55% to 35%.

Gas supply to Poland and Bulgaria from neighboring European countries announced Commission President Ursula von der Leyenreacting to Moscow’s decision to suspend gas sales to Warsaw and Sofia.

The case of Bulgaria also concerns Greece, with Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis to announce in essence the aid to the neighboring country, before convening an extraordinary meeting in Maximos. Greece is and will remain energy safe, the Prime Minister assured.

The Prime Minister of Poland accused Moscow of “immediate attack”, Mateusz Morawiecki after the cessation of Russian gas supply to the country. Her warning Russia that stops them gas supplies to Bulgariabecause her request to change the method of payment is not satisfied, it is serious violation of the current contract and is equivalent to blackmail, said today Bulgarian Prime Minister Kirill Petkov.
