With launches dammed after the two-year hiatus due to the pandemic, Agrishow (International Fair of Agricultural Technology in Action) broke a record and reached R$ 11.243 billion in business in its face-to-face return, according to an announcement made this Friday afternoon (29). ).

The 27th edition of the fair, held in Ribeirão Preto (313 km from São Paulo) since last Monday (25), also broke a public record, with 193,000 visitors, compared to the 150,000 expected by the organization. It is the highest turnover in the history of an agricultural fair in the country.

In the last edition, in 2019, R$ 2.9 billion were traded, in nominal values, which means that in 2022 the increase was 287% in negotiations. With the correction for inflation, the value for 2019 reaches R$ 3.537 billion.

With crowded streets in the 520,000-square-meter exhibition area and vehicle congestion lasting up to three hours, Agrishow contributed to the fact that, in just four agricultural fairs this year, the total traded reached R$ 29.943 billion.

Agrishow surpassed the R$ 10.6 billion announced by the organization of Tecnoshow Comigo, held in early April in Rio Verde (GO). Before it, the 34th Show Rural Coopavel, in Cascavel (PR), reached R$ 3.2 billion in business. At the 22nd Expodireto Cotrijal, in Não-Me-Toque (RS), another R$ 4.9 billion was invested.

“These numbers are gigantic. For three years we had a total disorganization of the supply chain for agricultural machinery components. On the one hand, this increased costs, which consequently raises prices. We have total disorganization in maritime traffic, which also changes prices At the other end, we have machines with much more technology on board than years ago. The more components, the more the price”, said the president of Agrishow, Francisco Matturro, also secretary of Agriculture of São Paulo.

The numbers, however, could be even better, according to Pedro Estevão, president of the Sectorial Chamber of Agricultural Machinery and Implements at Abimaq (Brazilian Association of the Machinery and Equipment Industry), one of the organizers of the event.

“[Os valores anunciados] include agricultural machinery, irrigation and storage, not including inputs and other activities, such as trucks and aircraft”, he said. According to him, this is due to compliance issues in some sectors.

Estevão said that, in 2021, the sectors earned BRL 88 billion and that this year’s goal was to grow 5%, in addition to inflation. “If inflation is 10%, it goes to R$ 100 billion in the year. We rose 9% in the first quarter, with an upward bias. The sale of machines is as giant as the Brazilian agro. of farmers, which causes an increase in the purchase of machines.”

He also said that the increase of more than 3 million hectares in the planted area makes it necessary to buy more machines.

Asked if the last Safra Plan had any impact on sales, Estevão said no and that the funds were obtained from other sources.

“The government put R$ 11 billion [no ano passado] and, if we talk about earning R$ 100 billion, it’s small […] Plano Safra has no more money since November,” he said.

Santander, for example, initially made R$ 1 billion available for agricultural credit at Agrishow and took 250 managers to the fair in Ribeirão.

It was Agrishow with the most banks present in its history, according to the executive president of Abimaq, José Velloso. In addition to Santander, Banco do Brasil, BNDES (National Bank for Economic and Social Development), Sicred, Bradesco, Caixa and BTG Pactual participated, as well as banks of machine manufacturers.

“It was an intense week, presidential candidates visited the fair. The President of the Republic was here, we were able to convey to him the needs that the Brazilian agricultural sector needs for the new Safra Plan, which starts on July 1st. We showed the need for resources “, said João Carlos Marchesan, president of Abimaq.

Last Monday, the sector asked President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) to release agricultural credits via Moderfrota and Pronaf (Program for Strengthening Family Agriculture) totaling R$ 44 billion, of which R$ 32 billion for the first program, and the rest to the second. There was no signal from the government about the request.

At Baldan, a company from Matão (SP) with 94 years of operation, the estimate is to earn more than double in this year’s edition compared to the 2019 edition, also due to the increase in the total of products available.

“It exceeded our expectations, in addition to the opportunity to bring news such as the expansion of our portfolio. The face-to-face fair has a differential that allows us to see friends and customers, providing a perfect environment for business and partnerships”, said Celso Ruiz, superintendent director of company.

“Whoever is coming is coming very capitalized […]”, said João Pedro Cury, CEO of Santa Clara Agrociência, which works in technological innovation in the area of plant nutrition.

One of the products that the company presented at the fair is a solution with its own technology for soybean and bean crops.

XCMG Brasil, a Chinese manufacturer of heavy machinery, sold 220 machines at Agrishow only until Thursday (28), surpassing the expectations of the entire fair, which was to sell 200 pieces of equipment.

The company offered financing rates of 0.99% per month through its own bank, which, according to her, boosted sales. Commercial director Renato Torres expects to double that number after the fair.

The mayor of Ribeirão, Duarte Nogueira (PSDB), said that the fair’s numbers were fabulous and reflected in the city and region.

“Bars increased their revenue by 30% in the city and the 17,000 hotel beds had 100% occupancy. In the surroundings, occupancy grew by 95% in the region,” he said.

With no vacancies in Ribeirão, visitors to the fair stayed in cities like Araraquara, 85 kilometers away, Sertãozinho and Batatais.

Congestion at the arrival and departure of the fair caused the city hall to meet with the concessionaire that manages the highway in front of the Agrishow site and with Governor Rodrigo Garcia (PSDB) to discuss improvements for the coming year.

The next edition of Agrishow is scheduled to take place between the 1st and 5th of May 2023.
