The new Secretary of Finance and Planning of São Paulo, Felipe Salto, established this Tuesday (10) a collegiate body to monitor the state’s revenue and fiscal indicators.

Called Cearif (Executive Committee for Monitoring Revenues and Fiscal Indicators), the group will have monthly meetings, chaired by the secretary himself, to monitor the evolution of indicators, measure the risks associated with meeting targets and assess the behavior of tax revenue and other budget revenues.

The activities of Cearif members will not be remunerated, according to the government.

In addition to Salto, the executive secretary of the agency, the undersecretaries of the State Revenue and Treasury, the economics and public finance advisor, the advisor for the fiscal policy monitoring area and the director of the Department of Policy Studies are part of the collegiate body. tax. Specialists in the subject and representatives of other government agencies may be invited to the meetings.

“The new committee is the first action I take to organize our mission to monitor fiscal indicators with a magnifying glass, even to make better decisions and help better plan São Paulo’s investments”, says Salto, who took over as secretary last month, in place of Henrique Meirelles.

The committee will deal with the revenue forecasts of the Pluriannual Plan bills, the LDO (Budget Guidelines Law) and the Annual Budget Law, before sending them to the Budget and Management Secretariat. It will also review the projection of revenues throughout the budget year, work on the preparation of the Fiscal Monitoring Program and make physical projections for the assessment of credit risk, according to the secretariat.
