Panel SA: Delivery is a third of the revenue of bars and restaurants in Brazil, says survey

by

Food orders made by Whatsapp, internet or telephone are, today, a third of the revenue of Brazilian bars and restaurants, which places Brazil in the first place in the ranking of countries with the highest share of delivery in the total sales of establishments.

The information is from a report by Euromonitor, a global market research company, in partnership with Adyen, a payment platform. The survey analyzed the sector in 62 countries.

Respondents who say they order food for delivery at least once a week are 40%, compared to about 20% of those who go to an establishment weekly to have meals.

Even with this scenario, Brazil is in the 23rd position among the countries with the highest percentage of orders processed over the internet. This means that there is still resistance to making online payments, using pix or links, for example.

According to the survey, the bar and restaurant sector earned BRL 377 billion last year, a level below the pre-pandemic level. In 2019, revenue was BRL 475 billion.
