The service sector advances in the recovery of vacancies lost during the pandemic in the state of São Paulo, according to a survey released by FecomercioSP this Wednesday (11).
It was the best first quarter since 2010, considering the changes in the calculation of Caged, according to Jaime Vasconcellos, the entity’s economic advisor. In all, there were 128,500 formal jobs in the period.
The result was mainly driven by the educational sector, which returned to face-to-face classes.
Trade has resumed its usual pace, according to Vasconcellos. In the first quarter of 2022, the sector lost almost 20 thousand jobs. Despite being negative, the movement is common for the season due to the volume of hiring at the end of the year.
For the next few months, the economic scenario, with inflation and household indebtedness, worries entrepreneurs and may hinder the generation of jobs throughout the year. In March, São Paulo trade had a balance of only 58 posts created.
“We see the service sector surfing both last year’s performance of the economy and its reopening, and the commerce sector returning to a normality of its seasonal pattern. But in both activities, important segments have not yet recovered their pre-pandemic employability level. “, says Vasconcellos.
He cites clothing, footwear and travel and fuel retailers, which have not yet resumed employment seen at the end of February 2020.
