Workers will be able to compete for at least 6,000 vacancies in the Mutirão do Emprego, which will be held in the Anhangabaú valley, central region of the capital of São Paulo, this Monday (16). Organized by the Sindicato dos Comerciários de São Paulo since 2018, the fair was even held in an online version during the coronavirus pandemic and, now, returns in a face-to-face edition.
The service will be made from 8 am to 17 pm, when there will be the registration or selection process of candidates. If it is not possible to attend to all participants on the same day, passwords will be distributed and registration will continue throughout the week. It is mandatory to wear a mask within the union. Outside, in the queue, use is optional.
To apply, you must be at least 16 years old. It is also necessary to bring personal documents, such as RG and CNH (National Driver’s License), for example. Resume and work card are not mandatory, but they can help the candidate to get a job on the same day, as many recruiters make selection on the spot. There is no minimum education required, as vacancies are for all levels of education.
Ricardo Patah, president of the Trade Workers Union and the UGT (General Union of Workers), says that the expectation is to repeat the success of the previous collective efforts. “All the rooms will be available to receive the workers, including mine. There are companies that already do the interviews on the spot”, he says.
Opportunities are concentrated in the areas of commerce and services, but there may also be positions in the industry, since Fiesp (Federation of Industries of the State of São Paulo) is one of the partners of the event, as well as CATe (Center for Support to Work and Entrepreneurship), from the City of São Paulo, and the Government of the State of São Paulo.
Efforts have already gathered nearly 80,000 workers
There are vacancies for salesperson, human resources analyst, store operator, mechanic, financial assistant, cashier, general assistant, cook, stocker, logistics assistant, fishmonger, baker, confectioner, kitchen assistant, storekeeper and forklift operator , among others.
Among the participating companies are Pão de Açúcar, Carrefour, Lopes Supermercados, Telhanorte, IBM and Unilever. The expectation is to receive between 10 thousand and 12 thousand candidates. In the last in-person edition, the fourth of the task force, 4,000 places were offered to a total of 8,478 participants. In all, 2,800 were hired.
According to data from the Trade Workers Union, the first four collective efforts carried out in person in Anhangabaú brought together 78,870 workers. In all, 22,680 vacancies were offered, but only 12,650 people were employed. The reason is the lack of professional qualification.
Patah says he seeks partnerships for qualification courses and says there are companies that commit to hiring employees after training them for a period. The unionist also recalls that the more technological qualifications the professional has, the better.
“The changes that have taken place in employment are enormous. Apps and other forms of work have emerged. Many of them require specific skills. Today, a cashier actually operates a computer.”
The union organizes itself to offer snacks and water to the participants in the queue. There will be special assistance to people with disabilities and companies with quotas for immigrants, blacks and women.
“It is one of the instruments of solidarity in a serious moment that we are living. It is a way for civil society to hold hands with those who are invisible today”, he says.
