President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) signaled this Thursday (12) that he can make new “people changes” by mentioning Petrobras.
He said that the company needs to understand its role and that the way to do that would be through exchanges like the one he made at the helm of the MME (Ministry of Mines and Energy) this Wednesday.
“We are doing what we can. Without interference, obviously. To make Petrobras understand its role. Understand how? Make changes here, as we did here at the MME”, he said.
Admiral Bento Albuquerque was replaced this week as the head of the portfolio. In his place, economist Adolfo Sachsida, until then secretary to Minister Paulo Guedes (Economy) and a long-time ally of the president, took over.
“We hope to make changes in people, that we can make, that we can seek to reduce, reduce the price of fuel in Brazil. I make it very clear that it is provided for by law, this is the case of Petrobras, that it its social role in terms of fuel prices”, he said.
“I appreciate the work of Admiral Bento, an exceptional person, he did a very good job in several other areas, but we had a small problem at Petrobras and he decided to sign his departure from the MME. I hope that in the future Bento can work with us again , a fantastic person”, he said.
He added that he does not want to interfere with Petrobras and that he intends to repeat what was done during the government of Dilma Rousseff (PT), who held back the company’s prices and generated the company’s indebtedness.
In addition, he signaled that he intends to go to court against prices.
“We expect a price reduction here [dos combustÃveis], we will have to go to court. We know that when I appeal it’s almost impossible for me to win, that’s when it’s put to a vote”, he said, referring next to the STF (Supreme Federal Court).
