by

Rocker and presenter João Gordo and Father Júlio Lancellotti, from Pastoral do Povo de Rua, opened a crowdfunding campaign on the internet this Tuesday (17) to raise money for the purchase of blankets that will be distributed to the homeless population of São Paulo.

City hall data show that the number of homeless people in the capital rose from about 24,000 in 2019 to almost 32,000 last year. According to experts, the numbers could be even higher.

Temperatures should drop this week in the city with the arrival of a polar mass, with a minimum forecast of 6°C for this Wednesday (18).

By 12 noon, the campaign, which also has a partnership with the Liberta Knowledge Institute, had already raised BRL 57,700, with donations from around 600 people. The goal is to reach R$ 100 thousand, according to data from the Vakinha website.

Since the beginning of 2021, the musician of the band Ratos de Porão has a project to donate vegan lunchboxes to homeless people.
