Kikilias: A record number of tourists is expected from Serbia

by

The Minister of Tourism, Vassilis Kikilias, expressed his optimism that this summer season will be extremely successful in an interview with Serbian Public Television (RTS). The interview was given during Mr. Kikilias’s two-day official visit to Belgrade (May 19-20) and was broadcast today.

“This year the epidemiological situation is much better and the only thing that tourists from Serbia must have to enter Greece is a passport and a big smile. Certificates, tests and other paperwork are no longer available, vaccinated and not all are welcome. “We are happy that the number of visitors from Serbia will increase by 30%, which means that 900,000 Serbian tourists will visit Greece this year,” said Mr. Kikilias. He said the government was trying to reduce the effects on the economy caused by the war in Ukraine so that prices would not be fully passed on to consumers of tourism products.

Vassilis Kikilias stressed that the advantage of Greece is that it offers tourism for all economic possibilities.

Referring to the issue that Serbia is urgently raising and that is the cost of roaming on mobile telephony, he assured that steps are being taken to abolish or reduce the price. “Our Minister of Digital Government is talking to telecommunications companies about the abolition of roaming for Serbia and I think we will finally be able to have some developments in this in a few weeks. “I can not say anything official yet but we have promises from individuals that they will satisfy our request,” Kikilias said in an interview with Serbian public television.
