Actress Larissa Manoela and social entrepreneur Enzo Celulari, one of the founders of Instituto Dadivar, participated in a social action to discuss menstrual poverty and female health with 300 young people, at a school in Jardim Ângela, in the south of São Paulo, this Sunday (29). In the action, sanitary pads and intimate hygiene products were also distributed to the participants.

Celulari explained that Dadivar joined the pharmaceutical company Cimed and Dermafeme to the NGO Plan International, which has projects linked to women’s causes. According to him, this is the first of a series of five events in Brazil, each sponsored by one of the Dermafeme ambassadors, which addresses women’s health, teenage pregnancy, and the right to access sanitary pads with young women and their families.

The social entrepreneur revealed that this is the first time that the Dadivar Institute, which works in several social projects, promotes an action aimed at such an important cause as menstrual poverty and says he plans to continue working with the theme. “I was very happy not only to participate and be able to help make this happen, but as a man I was also able to be within a theme like this, breaking taboos”, said Celulari.

Larissa, who is an ambassador for Dermafeme’s “I Am My Choices” campaign, said she was thrilled to be able to use her voice to talk about menstrual poverty with young people and women. “It’s good that menstrual poverty is being present in today’s debates because in fact it is not something that impacts us having privilege, easy access to basic hygiene items”, said the actress, who intends to continue supporting the cause.

Regarding the enactment in March of the law on the distribution of sanitary pads for low-income women, Celulari said that it is more than necessary and should have been passed earlier. “Approving a law changes a lot, makes a lot of sense in fact and generates an impact throughout the country. It is a milestone for this issue and I hope it is something that has been approved to perpetuate itself from now on forever”, she emphasized.

The actress said that the approval of the law is important to put into practice necessary activities aimed at women’s health and also give space to other causes, getting even more support from brands, artists and people. “That we can not only use this place, but the public law to actually be able to make this happen. [distribuição de absorventes] happen and be accessible to all audiences in Brazil”, said Larissa Manoela.
